Three people were killed after a fire broke out at an Econo Lodge motel in Wooster Township, Wayne County, Ohio, in the early morning hours of July 1, 2026.
The fire was reported after 1:30 a.m. and was classified as a five-alarm fire. Three residents were trapped in a room and could not escape. Sixteen children were among those evacuated from the motel.
Wooster Township Fire officials gave a briefing on the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
